Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that there’s no point in blaming economic globalization for global problems. The leader of the world’s second largest economy made the comment during his opening speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday. At the same time Xi noted that while economic globalization did create certain problems, it was necessary not to write it off, but rather seek to cushion its impacts. The Chinese leader went on to say that it was necessary to – quote – rebalance economic globalization and make it more inclusive and sustainable. Xi Jinping added that for now one of the main goals of the international community was to revive global economy. According to the Chinese leader this could be done through innovation, development of a new growth model and open cooperation between the countries. Xi Jinping also warned countries against returning to protectionist trade policies, saying there would be no winners in a trade war. That was Chinese President Xi Jinping, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Radio Sputnik discussed the issue with Yun Sun, East Asia Program senior associate at the Stimson Center think tank in Washington and a non-resident fellow at the Brookings Institution.
